Triggers #
Four triggers start a workflow from a WhatsApp form (9.8). Choose a specific form, or leave it on Any form:
- WhatsApp Form Submitted: someone completed a form. The workflow runs once per submission.
- WhatsApp Form Page Completed: someone finished one page, which lets you react to a decision made halfway through ("they chose the VIP package"). Pick the page too.
- WhatsApp Form Opened: someone opened a form you sent.
- WhatsApp Form Abandoned: someone opened a form but did not finish it after the waiting time set by your administrator.
Form triggers may start for a number that is not a contact yet. Put Add/Upsert Contact before steps that need a contact.
The Create Automation quick action can also build these steps: describe the form follow-up in your own words and it proposes Send WhatsApp Form, Update Contact from Form Answers and the form triggers for you to confirm.
Answers inside the workflow #
Every answer is available as {Answer.question_key} in WhatsApp messages and the Update Contact Field value. The question key is shown under Advanced on the question in the form designer. The form’s name, the reservation code and a link to the response are available as trigger data too (11.23).
Activity: Send WhatsApp Form #
Sends a published form to the workflow’s contact with your message and a button. Choose the form, write the message, and optionally pick the number to send from. By default it sends from the number the contact last wrote to. It needs the 24-hour window to be open.
Activity: Update Contact from Form Answers #
Copies answers into the contact. Add one row per answer and choose the contact field it fills (name, company, email, phone, country, city…). Only fill fields that are empty keeps existing details.
Condition: Form Answer #
Branches on one answer: is, is not, contains, starts with, is any of, was answered or was left blank. Choice questions are compared by the option text the customer saw, so type the option as it appears.
