Start Here: Use This Section When #
- You are creating a brand-new organization.
- You started onboarding from a third-party platform such as WordPress and need to finish or resume it.
- You need to diagnose why onboarding stopped, skipped, or did not generate the expected setup assets.
If you are adding staff to an existing organization, stop here and use 6. User Management instead.
Prerequisites #
- Access to your business email address.
- Your organization name.
- Optionally: your SMTP credentials, WhatsApp Meta connection, or WordPress integration details.
Resume Logic #
If you reopen the wizard:
- If you are not signed in, the wizard starts at Step 1.
- If you are already signed in as CompanyAdmin, the wizard resumes at the next unfinished step.
- If onboarding is already complete, the wizard jumps to the final completion step.
If the Wizard Does Not Open or Resume Correctly #
| If you see… | Check | Do this next |
|---|---|---|
| Wizard always returns to Step 1 | You are no longer signed in | Sign in again, then reopen the wizard |
| Wizard skips to the end too early | Onboarding was already marked complete | Open the dashboard and verify whether setup assets already exist |
| Wizard loops back to organization setup | CompanyAdmin setup was created but not completed | Finish the required organization fields and save |
| Embedded onboarding inside WordPress shows a blank or blocked frame | Browser, CSP, or popup restrictions | Refresh the page, allow third-party content/popups, then retry the onboarding launch |
Step 1: Enter Email Address #
- Enter your business email address.
- Click Continue.
- Optional: Click Sign up with Google, Sign up with Microsoft, or Continue with Facebook to use an external provider.
What happens: A 6-digit verification code is sent to your email.
If the code does not arrive -> check spam/junk -> wait 2-3 minutes -> click Resend code -> if still missing, retry with the correct business email.
Step 2: Verify the 6-Digit Code #
- Check your inbox.
- Enter the six digits into the verification boxes.
- Click Verify (or Resend code if the code expired).
Errors:
- Expired code → click Resend code and use the new code.
- Wrong code → re-enter carefully. Codes are numeric only.
- If repeated retries fail -> restart from Step 1 and request a fresh code.
Step 3: Create Your Account #
- Enter your Organization Name.
- Enter First Name and Last Name.
- For email/password signup: enter Password and Confirm Password.
- Click Create Account.
What happens: Your tenant company is created, your CompanyAdmin account is created, and you are signed in.
If account creation fails -> check whether the organization name is already used -> choose a different name -> retry once.
Step 4: Tell Application About Your Business #
- Choose a Business Type (e-commerce, healthcare, real estate, restaurant, SaaS, etc.).
- Choose your Primary Goal.
- Click Continue.
Why this matters: Application uses your business type to personalize wording in templates, workflow guidance, and AI content generation.
Step 5: Choose Your Channels #
- Select Email, WhatsApp, or both.
- Click Continue.
Branch logic:
- Email selected → Steps 6 and 7 appear.
- WhatsApp selected → Step 8 appears.
- Both selected → Steps 6, 7, and 8 all appear.
If an expected step does not appear -> go back to channel selection -> confirm the correct channel was selected -> continue again.
Step 6: Set Up Email Sending (Email only) #
- Choose your email sending provider (managed/provisioned option or your own SMTP/provider credentials).
- Fill in the required sender and provider fields.
- Click Test provider if available.
- Click Continue.
Important: This step configures the server for sending campaigns and broadcasts only — not for receiving replies.
If provider test fails -> stop and fix the sending provider first -> do not continue assuming email broadcasts will work later.
Step 7: Set Up Reply-To Mailbox (Email only) #
- Choose the inbox provider (IMAP, POP3, Gmail OAuth, Outlook OAuth).
- Enter connection details or authorize the provider.
- Click Test connection.
- Click Continue.
Important: This step configures where customer replies land and is separate from the sending server.
If inbound connection fails -> verify host, port, SSL/TLS, and credentials -> retry Test connection before continuing.
Step 8: Check WhatsApp Readiness (WhatsApp only) #
- Review the status cards showing Meta and WhatsApp connection state.
- If additional setup is needed, note the recommended action.
- Click Continue.
Choosing your number: this step shows the two cards, Use my current WhatsApp Business number and Use a new number. Picking one takes you to the Meta setup page with your choice already made, where Meta’s window finishes the job (it cannot be completed inside the wizard). You can also skip and connect later from the plug icon in the top bar. See 9.9.
If WhatsApp shows Not connected -> continue onboarding -> then complete 8. Meta Platform Connection before attempting WhatsApp chat, templates, or campaigns.
Step 9: Generate AI Starter Content #
- Review the description of what will be generated.
- Click Generate Content.
- Wait for the animation to complete.
- Click Continue.
What is generated:
- Starter email templates matched to your business type.
- Starter WhatsApp templates (if WhatsApp was selected).
- Draft automation workflows for common scenarios in your industry.
Note: All generated content is a draft. Review and edit before publishing.
If AI generation fails -> continue onboarding anyway -> create templates manually later in 9.3 WhatsApp Message Templates, 10.4 Email Templates, or 11. Automation Workflows.
Step 10: Generate Integration Token (Third-party flows only) #
- Enter the Token Label and Site URL.
- Click Generate Token.
- Copy the token immediately — it is shown only once.
- Click Finish Setup.
Warning: If you do not copy the token now, it cannot be viewed again. Create a new token from Settings if the original is lost.
If the token is lost -> do not search for it in the UI -> generate a replacement token in 7.3 Third-Party API Tokens and update the external system.
Step 11: Complete Setup #
- Review the success message.
- Click Go to Dashboard.
Errors and Fix Common Problems #
| Message / Problem | Why It Happens | How to Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Verification code not received | Email delivery delay or spam filter | Check spam; wait 2–3 min; click Resend code |
| Verification code expired | Codes expire after a few minutes | Click Resend code for a fresh code |
| Organization name already taken | Duplicate company name | Choose a unique organization name |
| AI content generation failed | AI service temporarily unavailable | Onboarding can still continue without AI content; templates can be created manually later |
| WhatsApp step shows "Not connected" | Meta Embedded Signup not completed | Continue onboarding; complete Meta setup from the sidebar later |
| Token lost after display | Only shown once for security | Go to Settings → Third-Party Tokens to generate a replacement |
If Onboarding Stops at a Specific Step #
| If onboarding stops at… | Most likely cause | Do this next |
|---|---|---|
| Email verification | Code expired, wrong email, or delayed delivery | Restart the email step, resend the code, and confirm you are using the intended inbox |
| Account creation | Duplicate organization name or invalid required fields | Correct the invalid field or use a unique organization name |
| Channel selection | Flow branch mismatch | Re-select channels and continue again |
| Email sending setup | SMTP/provider credentials invalid | Validate the sender details before continuing |
| Reply-To mailbox setup | Inbound credentials or OAuth grant invalid | Reconnect or retest the mailbox before continuing |
| WhatsApp readiness | Meta connection incomplete | Finish onboarding, then complete Meta connection from the sidebar |
| AI generation | AI service unavailable | Continue without AI-generated assets |
| Token generation | Token not copied or modal closed | Generate a new token later in Settings |
Full WordPress Onboarding Manual #
Use this path when you are connecting a WordPress or WooCommerce site with the official Peikly plugin. The complete plugin guide, including every event it sends and what data it shares, is 21a. WordPress & WooCommerce Plugin.
Before You Start #
You need:
- WordPress admin access with permission to install and configure plugins.
- A CompanyAdmin account in Application, or the intention to create one during setup.
- A decision on connection method: Guided Setup (create or sign in to Peikly from WordPress), or API Token (paste a token you created in Peikly).
WordPress Path A: Guided Setup #
- Install and activate the official Peikly WordPress plugin.
- In WordPress admin, open Peikly -> Setup.
- Select Guided Setup and click Open Peikly Onboarding.
- The Application onboarding wizard opens in a new browser tab.
- Complete the onboarding steps in this order:
- verify email
- create account or sign in
- choose business context
- choose channels
- complete email or WhatsApp setup as needed
- generate the integration token
- On the final onboarding step, Application sends you back to WordPress with a one-time code (valid for five minutes, usable once). The plugin exchanges it for the token automatically instead of sending you to the SaaS dashboard.
- The Peikly Setup page now shows WordPress is connected to Peikly and a Connected badge with the token’s first characters.
WordPress Path B: API Token #
Use this if you already have an account, or if Guided Setup could not hand the token back to WordPress.
- In Application, complete onboarding or go to 7.3 Third-Party API Tokens.
- Generate a new token labeled for the WordPress site.
- Copy the token immediately.
- In WordPress admin, open Peikly -> Setup.
- Select API Token.
- Paste the raw token.
- Click Save Connection.
- Confirm the page shows Connected.
Enable Event Families in WordPress #
- In WordPress admin, open Peikly -> Setup. Once connected, the page shows the Event Families card.
- All families are on after connecting. Keep only the ones you actually want to send:
- Customers
- Orders
- Cart & Checkout
- Products
- Blog Posts
- Click Save Event Settings.
- If you plan to use automation, make sure matching workflows exist in Application.
Blog posts and products are sent only for a save where the editor ticks the confirmation box in the Marketing Channels (Peikly) box on the edit screen (21a).
Verify the Connection End to End #
- In WordPress admin, open Peikly -> Setup.
- In Test Integration, choose an event type and click Send Test Event, or trigger a real low-risk event such as a product view or a test checkout in your staging environment.
- Open Peikly -> Request Tracking and confirm the event status becomes
sentorduplicate. - In Application, check 21. External Integrations related workflows or monitoring.
- If a workflow should have triggered, also check 11. Automation Workflows execution history.
If WordPress Onboarding Fails #
| If this happens in WordPress… | Check | Do this next |
|---|---|---|
| The onboarding tab does not open | The browser blocked the new tab | Allow pop-ups for your WordPress admin and click Open Peikly Onboarding again |
Auto-connect failed. Please connect manually by pasting your API token. | The one-time code expired, was already used, or the WordPress server could not reach Application | Select API Token and paste a newly generated token |
Peikly requires the PHP OpenSSL extension… | The server’s PHP has no OpenSSL, so the token cannot be stored encrypted | Ask the host to enable OpenSSL, then connect again |
| Plugin shows connected but events do not appear | Event family turned off, or token invalid | Turn on the needed families in Event Families on Peikly -> Setup and retest |
Request Tracking shows failed | Token, signature, or plan problem | Reconnect with a fresh token and retest with one event |
Request Tracking shows duplicate | Same logical event already sent | This is normal if you repeated the same test |
| Workflow did not trigger after a sent event | No matching active workflow | Create or activate a matching external-event workflow |
If X -> Do Y Quick Reference #
- If WordPress says Not Connected -> try Guided Setup first -> if that fails, switch to API Token.
- If you lost the token -> generate a new token -> replace it in WordPress -> do not keep using the old one.
- If test events are sent but no automation runs -> check workflow trigger type and status.
- If onboarding worked for the account but not for WordPress -> the issue is token handoff, not tenant creation.
- If email or WhatsApp was skipped during onboarding -> finish those setups later from the dashboard modules before using those channels.
