# 6.5 User Contact Data Access

## What This Feature Does

Restricts which contacts a specific TenantUser can view and manage.

## When to Use

- Use when different agents should only see their own assigned customers.
- Use in compliance scenarios where data segregation is required.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

1. In **All Users**, click the **Data Access** button on the target user's row.
2. Choose the access model:
   - **Unrestricted** — user sees all contacts.
   - **Restricted** — user sees only contacts explicitly assigned to them.
3. If Restricted, configure which contacts are assigned.
4. Click **Save**.

The same page has the **WhatsApp Forms** switch, which lets a user build forms, read responses and send forms ([9.8](/docs/whatsapp-forms/)). CompanyAdmins always have it.

## Best Practices

- Start with **Unrestricted** for small teams and switch to **Restricted** as the team grows.
- Reassign contacts before deactivating a user so their contacts are not orphaned.
