# 6.7 The Company Owner

Every company has one **owner**: the person who controls its social accounts. The owner is always a CompanyAdmin, shows an **Owner** badge in **All Users**, and is whoever created the company unless ownership has been transferred. For companies created before owners existed, the earliest active administrator is the owner.

The owner:

- **cannot be removed, deactivated or demoted** by anyone, including other administrators;
- decides which other administrators may connect and disconnect platforms (Meta, Pinterest, LinkedIn). In **All Users**, the plug button on an administrator's row turns that permission on or off. Other administrators can still use every connected platform, they just cannot connect or disconnect them;
- gets an in-app notification **and an email** when a platform is connected, disconnected or reconnected, a new administrator is added, someone's role changes, a team member is removed, a post is deleted from a platform, or the review policy changes. The owner is not told about their own actions.

On the **Connections** page the owner sees a note under any connection made by someone else: *Reconnect under your own account so this never depends on someone else.* A connection made under another person's login stops working the day that person leaves.

## Transfer Ownership

Only the owner can do this, from **User Management → All Users → Transfer ownership**.

1. Choose the new owner from your active administrators.
2. Confirm it is you: enter your password. If your account has no password (you sign in with Google, for example), click **Email me a code** and enter the code instead.
3. Click **Transfer ownership**.

Both of you are emailed, the change is written to the audit trail, and you stay an administrator.
