# 15a.2 How a Run Works

A run goes through five stages, one after another. The account card shows a progress bar while it runs:

1. **Your own content**: reads your recent posts and their results.
2. **Competitor discovery**: looks for accounts worth comparing with (Instagram only, see [15a.3](/docs/social-analysis-competitors/)).
3. **Competitor content**: reads the public posts of your approved competitors.
4. **Report**: calculates the figures and writes the report.
5. **Content plan**: writes dated post ideas.

A run spreads its work over a while instead of doing everything at once, so it is gentle on your platform limits. Parts of the report appear as each stage finishes.

**Paused runs.** If a platform asks Peikly to slow down, or the run would use more of a platform's request allowance than is safe, the run pauses and the card shows **Paused** with the reason. It continues on its own; you do not need to do anything.

**Run now.** To get a fresh report before the next scheduled one, open the card's **More actions** menu and click **Run now**, or click **Run a new report now** on a report. It starts within a few minutes and counts towards your monthly run limit.
