# 7.1 Profile Tab

The Profile tab has a large **Profile** card on the left and, on the right, an **Account Activity** card and a **Security** card (on narrow screens these stack below the Profile card).

## 7.1.1 Photo

Your photo is shown to teammates. It appears as a circle; if you have no photo, your first initial is shown instead.

**Add or change your photo**

1. Open **Settings** → **Profile** tab → **Photo**.
2. Do any one of these:
   - Click the round picture, **or**
   - Click **Upload photo** (or **Change photo** if you already have one), **or**
   - Tab to the picture with the keyboard and press **Enter** or **Space**, **or**
   - **Drag an image file** from your computer and drop it onto the circle (the circle shows a dashed outline when it is ready to receive the file).
3. Choose the image. It appears in the circle immediately, and a blue progress ring fills while it uploads.
4. When the ring disappears you see a green **Photo updated** pop-up and the text *Photo updated.* under the buttons. **You are done — no Save is needed.**

**Remove your photo**

1. Click **Remove** (red button, shown only when you have a photo).
2. In the confirmation pop-up (**Remove your photo?**) click **Remove**. Click **Keep it** to cancel.
3. Your initial is shown again. Removal is also instant.

**Rules:** JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP; **up to 2 MB**. A **square** image looks best because the picture fills the circle and the edges are cropped.

If the upload fails, your previous photo is put back automatically and a red message explains why:

| Message under the photo | Why it happens | How to fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `Only JPG, PNG, GIF and WebP images are supported.` | The file is another type (PDF, HEIC, SVG, BMP...) | Convert to JPG or PNG and try again |
| `That image is X MB. Please choose one under 2 MB.` | File is larger than 2 MB (the page checks before uploading) | Resize or compress the image |
| `Avatar must be smaller than 2 MB.` | Same limit, caught by the server | Resize or compress |
| `Only JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP files are supported.` | Server-side type check (file extension) | Use a `.jpg`, `.jpeg`, `.png`, `.gif` or `.webp` file |
| `Please upload a valid image.` | The file claims to be an image but is not | Re-export it from an image editor |
| `Please choose an image to upload.` | The file was empty | Pick a real file |
| `Unable to save avatar.` / `Unable to update avatar.` | Storage or server problem | Try again in a minute; if it repeats, contact support |
| `Could not reach the server. Check your connection and try again.` | Lost internet connection during upload | Check your connection, retry |
| `The upload failed. Please try again.` | An unexpected server response | Retry; refresh the page if it repeats |
| `Unable to remove avatar.` / `Unable to remove your photo.` | Server problem while removing | Retry |

A photo cannot be changed while another upload or removal is still running — wait for the ring to finish.

## 7.1.2 Identity

| Field | What to enter | Limit | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Display name** | The name teammates should see, e.g. `Sara K.` | 120 characters | The name teammates see. If it is empty, this page falls back to your email address. |
| **First name** | Given name | 100 characters | Browsers may offer to auto-fill it. |
| **Last name** | Family name | 100 characters | |

All three are optional. Click **Save Profile** (bottom right of the card) to save.

## 7.1.3 Work

| Field | What to enter | Limit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Job title** | e.g. `Marketing Manager` | 100 characters |
| **Department** | e.g. `Sales` | 100 characters |

Both are optional and shown to teammates.

## 7.1.4 Contact

| Field | What to enter | Limit | Validation |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Phone** | Your office or direct line | 30 characters | Must look like a phone number. Digits, spaces, `+`, `-`, `(`, `)` are fine. |
| **Mobile** | Your mobile number | 30 characters | Same as above |

If a number is not accepted you see a red "not a valid phone number" message under that field and nothing is saved until you fix it. Write it in international form (`+971 50 123 4567`) to be safe.

## 7.1.5 Language & time

| Field | What to enter | Limit |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Locale** | A language-and-region code such as `en-US`, `en-GB`, `ar-AE` | 10 characters |
| **Time zone** | Pick from the drop-down list | 80 characters (chosen from the list) |

**Choose your time zone (step by step)**

1. Click the **Time zone** box. A searchable list opens. Each entry looks like `(UTC+04:00) Abu Dhabi, Muscat (Arabian Standard Time)`.
2. Type part of your city or region (for example `Dubai` or `Eastern`) to filter the list, then click your entry.
3. **Shortcut:** click **Use this device's time zone** under the box. The page reads your computer's time zone and selects the matching entry for you.
4. Click **Save Profile**.

**What your time zone is used for.** Dates and times in lists, the Scheduler, timelines and campaigns are stored in UTC and shown to you in your local time. Your saved Profile time zone is used wherever the **server** has to decide something for you — for example which calendar day a timeline entry belongs to, or the default zone offered when you schedule something. If it is wrong, items can land on the wrong day or default to the wrong hour.

Notes and errors:

| What you see | Why | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A pop-up **Pick it from the list** — *"We could not match this device's time zone (…). Please choose the closest one from the list."* | Your device reports a zone name that is not in the server's list | Choose the nearest city yourself from the list |
| Your old saved zone appears at the top of the list as plain text (for example `Asia/Dubai`) | You saved it before the drop-down existed, in a different naming style | It is kept so your setting is not lost. You can leave it, or pick a listed entry and save to replace it |
| Times still look an hour off after saving | Daylight saving: some regions change twice a year | Pick the entry for your actual city, not just the matching UTC offset |

## 7.1.6 Email signature

A short signature added to emails you send. Up to **512 characters** — a counter under the box shows `n / 512`. Typing past 512 is blocked. Line breaks are allowed. Leave it empty for no signature.

## 7.1.7 Notifications

The **Receive product emails & alerts** switch is **on** by default. Turn it off to stop product emails and alerts being sent to you. Click **Save Profile** to apply.

## 7.1.8 Account Activity (read-only)

Shows your sign-in **Email**, your **Company** name, and your **Last login** (in your local time, or *Never*). Nothing here can be edited on this page, including the sign-in email.

## 7.1.9 Security: change your password

This card has its own **Update Password** button and is separate from the Profile card.

> **No Security card with a form? Then you have no password.** If your account only ever signed in through **Google, Microsoft or Facebook** and never had a password set, the Security card shows a short note — *"You sign in through Google, Microsoft or Facebook, so there is no password to manage here"* — instead of the form. This is expected. Your sign-in provider manages the credential. An account that has *both* a password and a linked provider still sees the full form. The page decides this by whether a password exists, not by which button was used to sign in.

1. In **Current password** type your existing password.
2. In **New password** type the new one.
3. In **Confirm new password** type it again.
4. Use the **eye** button at the end of each box to show or hide what you typed.
5. Click **Update Password**. You see *"Password updated successfully."* and the change takes effect immediately.

**Password rules** (enforced on the server):

- At least **8 characters**
- At least one **uppercase** letter (A–Z)
- At least one **lowercase** letter (a–z)
- At least one **number** (0–9)
- At least **4 different characters** (so `aaaaaaA1` is refused)
- A symbol is **not** required.

| Message | Why it happens | How to fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `The CurrentPassword field is required.` (or the new/confirm equivalent) | A box was left empty | Fill in all three boxes |
| Message about a **minimum length of '8'** under *New password* | Fewer than 8 characters | Use 8 or more |
| `'ConfirmNewPassword' and 'NewPassword' do not match.` | The two new passwords differ | Retype carefully (use the eye button to compare) |
| `Incorrect password.` | The current password is wrong | Re-enter it. If you forgot it, sign out and use **Forgot password** on the sign-in page ([2.6](/docs/peikly-password-reset/)) |
| `Passwords must have at least one uppercase ('A'-'Z').` / `...lowercase ('a'-'z').` / `...digit ('0'-'9').` | New password misses a required character type | Add the missing type |
| `Passwords must be at least 8 characters.` | Too short | Lengthen it |
| `Passwords must use at least 4 different characters.` | Too repetitive | Use more varied characters |
| `You are not authorized to change this password.` / `User not found.` | Session problem | Sign out, sign in again, retry |
| `Your account signs in through a third party and has no password to change.` | A password change was attempted on an account with no password | Nothing to fix; use **Forgot password** only if you want to add a password |

> **Where errors appear:** every password error from the server is shown under the **Current password** box, even when the real problem is the new password. Read the text, not the position.
>
>
>
> **Want a password as well as Google/Microsoft/Facebook sign-in?** The Security form is hidden until a password exists. Use **Forgot password** on the sign-in page to create one ([2.6](/docs/peikly-password-reset/)); after that the form appears.

## 7.1.10 Profile messages

| Message | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| *Profile updated successfully.* | Saved. |
| `Unable to update profile.` (red, top of the card) | The server refused the save. Check each field for a red message, then retry. |
| `You are not authorized to update this profile.` / `User not found.` | Your session is out of date. Sign out and back in. |
