# 2.6 Forgot Password and Reset Password

## Step-by-Step Instructions

1. On the **Sign In** page, click **Forgot Password? Click here**.
2. Enter your email address and click **Send Reset Link**.
3. You always see: *"If your email is registered, you will receive a password reset link."*
4. Check your inbox and click the reset link.
5. On the **Reset Password** page, enter **New Password** and **Confirm Password**.
6. Click **Reset Password**.

## Errors, Messages, and Exceptions

| Message | Why It Happens | How to Fix |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `If your email is registered, you will receive a password reset link.` | By design (security) | Check inbox and spam folder |
| `Invalid password reset link.` | Link expired or already used | Request a new reset link |
| `Password reset successful. You can now log in.` | Success | Sign in with the new password |
| `Password reset failed. The link may be invalid or expired.` | Token no longer valid | Request a new reset link |
| `Unable to generate password reset link. Please try again later.` | Server error | Retry after a few minutes |
