# 21.1 How Integrations Work

1. Your external platform sends an HTTP POST request to Application's events API.
2. The request includes your Bearer token and a cryptographic signature.
3. Application verifies the signature, deduplicates the event, and stores it.
4. If a matching workflow is active, Application triggers it.

## If X -> Do Y

- If the external platform cannot connect at all -> check token validity first.
- If the platform connects but every request fails -> check signature and timestamp generation.
- If requests are accepted but nothing happens -> check dispatch status and workflow activation.
- If only WordPress is affected -> verify the plugin connection and Request Tracking before changing workflows.

## WordPress and WooCommerce: Complete Operator Flow

The full plugin guide is [21a. WordPress & WooCommerce Plugin](/docs/wordpress-plugin/). For a quick check:

1. In WordPress admin, open **Peikly** -> **Setup**.
2. Confirm the plugin shows **Connected**.
3. If not connected, reconnect using the full process in [3. Get Started Wizard](/docs/peikly-setup/), especially the WordPress onboarding steps.
4. On the same page, confirm the required families are on in **Event Families**.
5. Trigger one low-risk test event (**Test Integration** -> **Send Test Event**).
6. Open **Peikly** -> **Request Tracking**.
7. Match the result to the next action below:
   - `sent` -> Application received the event; now check workflows.
   - `duplicate` -> Application already received the same event; use a new test event.
   - `retry` -> wait for retry or inspect the original HTTP failure.
   - `failed` -> fix token, endpoint, or signing issue before retrying.
