# 11.22 Conditions: Email Opened and Link Clicked

Both need a contact and the **Automation Advanced** plan feature. Shown as **Email Opened** and **Link Clicked** in the palette.

- **Email Opened:** TRUE when the contact opened a campaign email within the last **N hours** (**Within (hours)**, default 24).
- **Link Clicked:** TRUE when the contact clicked a link in a campaign email within the last N hours.
- On **Triggered from Broadcast**, the check looks only at that broadcast (or its campaign). Elsewhere it looks at any email campaign.
- Only campaign emails are tracked. Workflow and one-to-one emails don't count.

**Typical use (email follow-up):** **Triggered from Broadcast** (email sent) → **Delay** 2 days → **Email Opened** within 48 hours → FALSE: **Send Email** with a different subject.

Opens are measured with a tracking image, which some email apps block. A FALSE result therefore means "no open was recorded", not "definitely not read".

A click is counted only when the link opens in a real browser. Many companies' email security systems open every link in an incoming message to check it; those automatic checks are not counted as clicks, so they don't start **Link Clicked** automations. A person whose browser has JavaScript turned off still reaches the page, but the click isn't counted.
